SUMMARY: I was assigned to develop a cost-effective or free solution to automate order notifications for delivery drivers, enhancing communication efficiency within the warehouse environment.
PROBLEM:The current communication system within the warehouse, reliant on manual WhatsApp messages, is proving ineffective due to the unreliability of delivery drivers' access to their phones. This leads to missed messages and delays in order notifications. To address this issue, there is a need to implement an automated notification system that ensures timely and reliable communication with the drivers, utilizing the tablets they consistently have on hand during their shifts.
APPROACH: I conducted research to explore potential solutions, considering options such as WhatsApp for Business, Frappe Notifications, and Slack Notification Integration. I proposed Slack Notification Integration due to its compatibility with the existing ERP system and the absence of fees associated with its implementation.
OUTCOME: Implementation of Slack Notification Integration resulted in significantly improved communication efficiency, with nearly 100% effectiveness in delivering order notifications to the drivers.
This solution eliminated the need for manual messaging, reducing workload and ensuring that drivers receive timely notifications directly on their tablets.
The adoption of this automated system not only streamlined operations but also enhanced the overall user experience, demonstrating the value of user-centric design in addressing real-world challenges within the workplace.
